Pours a deep brownishorange amber with a nice ivory head that slowly dissipated to a clotted skim of foam. Good lacing at the beginning, not so much as the level went down.Aroma was very citrusy, good whiff of oranges. Mouthfeel is tending toward thick with good prickly carbonation.Taste hits the mark for a DIPA. Strong hop notes of overripe oranges and other citrus jump out first with a smoky malt base underneath to even things out. Slight whiff of alcohol at the tail end, as might be expected. Fine DIPA. Wish I had more than one bottle out of a gift 4pack. Hope to find this on tap someday.

The classic India Pale Ale is a traveler’s beer, aggressively hopped to withstand the long, hot ocean voyage to the British East Indies. Our Double-Wide I.P.A. also travels well, and is right at home in the most exotic ports of call of the Midwest. While this modern-day prairie schooner may not resemble a graceful sailing sloop, our liberal hopping regimen does make her virtually “twister-proof,” with toffee and caramel notes balancing out the lingering bitterness.
