Highly recognized among cigar smokers, Gurkha has been sold at prices too high for most cigar aficionados until now. Kaisad Hansotia has just launched the Gurkha Monogram, a more accessible cigar, offered in four standard sizes and packaged in very modern and beautiful tin boxes of 20.


The Monogram Robusto is a similar cigar to the Gurkha Elegance, a mild to medium bodied smoke with Connecticut wrapper and Dominican grown binder and filler.






At the height of the British rule in India, colonial soldiers began to make their own cigars from the local tobacco. The fondness of the British for these legendary Nepalese fighters inspired them to name their cigars “Gurkhas.”

After the rule of the Raja Waned, British expatriates living in India continued to smoke Gurkhas produced in the Portuguese territory of Goa. Eventually, However, The Gurkha cigars simply lapsed into obscurity.
