Poured a light brown color with decent offwhite head. Nose is caramel and slight coffee with a malty overtone that had some grassy hops in the background. Taste is similar with less coffee and a doughy flavor added in the mix. Nice for an easy to find brown ale but not the best.






Newcastle Brown Ale was first brewed in 1927 in NewcastleuponTyne, England, by Jim Porter after three years of development. Production moved from Newcastle to Gateshead at the end of 2004 and to Tadcaster on closure of the Dunston brewery in 2010.
